The Basalt Abyss is an expansive body of black water, suitable to be drunk although no one is quite sure what gives it such a shade. It is the largest cavern in the Underbirth and the water itself is full of bioluminescent creatures, from fish to giant squids. The beach however is pure black salt, there is no sand or sediment but rather the salt seems to have been deposited from the water eons ago.
