Welcome to Ebon!
Faction Guide
Here on Ebon all creatures have the ability to create a Faction once they have become 1.50 years of age! Yes, even teenagers can rule if push comes to shove, that doesn't mean they'll be the best leader as they still have yet to learn the fundamentals. Either way, there are a few things that are required OOC as well as IC when creating a Faction.
Factions work similarly to that of a Monarch Kingdom, with one Leader (a King or Queen) and a council of high ranking characters at their side. A Faction does not require a council in order to be formed. The Ranks are as follows and are the back bone of any Faction.
King/Queen - The Leader of the Faction, they are the one's responsible for the entire Faction, there can be up to two of these Leaders but only one can fill out the Leader Logs
Heirs - These are the Princesses or Princes of any Faction, there can be as many of these as the Leader's see fit. They are the first in line when it comes to taking over a Faction should it fall
Duke/Duchess - The right hand of the Leader of a Faction. They may hold whatever responsibilities a leader has and may take over if no Heir's are of age if the Faction should fall. There may only be two of this Rank at one time.
Marquess/Marchioness - The left hand of the Leader of a Faction. They may hold whatever responsibilities a leader has and are 3rd in line for the crown if the Faction should fall. There may only be two of this Rank at one time.
Earl/Countess - They are the 4th in line for the crown should the Faction fall. They are also the enforcer of the Faction and may have jurisdiction over the Working Ranks. There may only be two of this Rank at one time.
Viscount/Viscountess - They are the 5th in line for the crown should the Faction fall. They are also the supporter of the Faction and may have jurisdiction over the residential ranks. There may only be two of this Rank at one time.
These ranks are set in stone and may not have their name's changed officially. In Character however they may refer to themselves as any rank they please.
Now those are the ranks of royalty but there are also Working Ranks. These are the ranks of those who have certain skillsets that the Leader deems fit for these roles. These are set in stone, but other working ranks can be added to these existing ones for a more tailored experience of a Faction. That means Custom Ranks can be as few or as many as you'd like with as many creatures in the rank as you would like.
Knight - The fighters of the Faction, they protect the borders and those who reside within the Faction. There can be an unlimited amount of this rank.
Huntsman/Huntress - The hunters of a Faction, they keep the Faction fed and the borders secure. There can be an unlimited amount of this rank.
Medic - The healers of a Faction, they keep the Faction healthy and help the injured. There can be an unlimited amount of this rank.
Then you have the Residents of the realm, those are the bulk of a Faction and are the citizens who do not have a Working Rank. There are also the Youth of the Faction which are those who are under 1.50 years of age.
Once a creature is 1.50 years old they can become a citizen or have a Working Rank. At the bottom of the totem pole are the Slaves, those who have been imprisoned by a Faction. They may not leave the borders of the faction if there are more than 3 creatures within a Faction.
With all of that out of they way now it's time for you to know just how to create a Faction! Below are the criteria that your character must have before you are able to apply for the creation of a Faction.
1) A character must be 1.50 years or older
2) A character must have 25 posts
3) There must be at least 3 characters willing to join the faction other than the Leader
4) If this is your first faction you only need two roleplayers total, if it is your second Faction you need 3 roleplayers
5) As a roleplayer you must have an icon of your realm and color for your realm picked out
Once those requirements have been met you can move on with creating a Faction! What you need to do is have your character post a Claiming Thread in the land they wish to have as their Faction, which is a thread with a [CT] in the title so that everyone knows what it is. From there your followers should arrive where your Leader can give them ranks if they haven't in a previous thread. Every other creature that meets the same requirements as yours then has 24 OOC hours to challenge the claim.
If the claim is challenged then a spar for leader has been issued, this spar cannot be used to kill another character.
If the claim is unchallenged then you have 24 OOC hours to post a Faction Creation Forum. Once that has been accepted you can post a Faction Thread which Staff can then make Sticky so that everyone can see it.
Once a Leader has been crowned they have a grace period of 2 OOC weeks before they can be challenged for their throne. Every time they are challenged they get another 2 OOC week grace period.
Being a Faction Leader does have it's downsides however, as you must upkeep a Leader Log! A Leader Log is a log to let us know that you Leader is active, this can be anything from interacting with Faction members, recruiting new members, patrolling, hunting, foraging, ect. So long as it has something to do with your faction you can use it! It must be posted either, the day before the due date or the due date itself.
If you miss a Leader Log you will have a grace period of 24 hours, after that you will gain a strike on your Leader, once 3 strikes have been hit your Leader will be removed from power by Lumen as he is not satisfied with weak leaders. From there it falls upon the ranks who post to the thread of the ending of the Faction, and if no one takes the Faction then it will go into the Faction history and be considered no more.
However Leader Strikes are reset every 3 OOC months, so if you happen to have two strikes and the rollover happens you will be put back down at 0 strikes.
What's the point of having a Faction then? With a Faction any character can have access to difficult and heavy things to move such as Woks, winery tools as well as the ability to create strong houses. These, especially with the help of earth magic, can be two floors and made of earth instead of thatch rickety shelters that Rouges sometimes make.
Factions also have the ability to kick out any trespassers as well as keep a safe land to raise children in. It is a large community that is perfect for families and creatures with similar ideals.
Now there are a few OOC rules when it comes to making Factions, they are as follows.
1) No Roleplayer may have more than 2 Factions at a time.
2) There, as of now, are only 5 Faction slots available at one time.
3) A Faction must have at least 3 characters total in order to keep from disbanding
That's about it!
Now below you will find the Leader Logs, if you need to post yours please head to this Leader Log Update.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
