Hugo Martin Ever since the bounty thing he had been mostly exploring and relaxing. The guy with the crow feet, Varian, had been super fun to chat with but he really could only be around people he'd just met for so long. It was fun though, chatting with him and joking around, that was something he hadn't done in a while. The world seemed so big and the people in it few and far between. Thankfully that gap seemed to be closing for him and it was, as much as he hated to admit it, very nice.
Even so he was out on his own, trotting to the beat of his own drum and staring at the place he'd wandered into with pure fascination. Everything was a shade of purple, the trees and the plants around them. In the midday sun he'd thought he'd wandered into some kind of fever dream. Not to mention it was stupidly hot and muggy. It's what he got for heading someplace tropical in the middle of the damn summertime. He was panting already and he was sure that this was probably one of the more stupid ideas he'd had in a while, but what the hell? It wasn't like he had anything better to do.
That was when he saw it, a colorful beetle that glittered in the daylight.
It was beautiful, like a sapphire left out for him to collect. He blinked a few times, almost not believing that something like that could exist. What kind of bug glittered like a gemstone? Heck he could see little bits of light reflecting off of it and sending patterns along the purple leaves. He wanted it, he didn't care for it's life but he wanted that little beetle shell in all it's pretty glory. He shimmied a bit, sneaking up with his ears pinned back and eyes on his target. That beetle was going to be his and he was going to be sure to get it, there was no way he was going to get bested by a stupid bug.

Hugo Martin A bug got the fucking better of him. He had been ready to just hit it with his paw and be done and over with it but that wasn't going to happen apparently. He had managed to bop it but it took those pincers and grabbed hold of his paw pad. He yelped and shook his foot, flinging the beetle a good foot away from him. He growled, flashing his fangs with the utmost certainty of killing this stupid thing.
"Well fuck you too then! You wanna play that game huh, asshole?" He didn't really care that he was currently talking to a bug that had begun to walk away from his threats.
He snarled and got ready to jump on the damn thing, but he had to be careful otherwise he's shatter the carapace of insect. He took a breath, still visibly annoyed to beat hell and walked around the thing. It was more like a staring contest but he figured with the light throb in his paw that he'd be able to just bite down on its head and be done with it. His ear flicked, and he got a bit closer, this time more cautious about what he was doing.

Crow Vella
The wolf had walked on, still exploring the land. She hadn't often been allowed to go too far with her fathers when she was younger in this land, but being an adult meant she could go where she pleased. And so she did: she wanted to explore the land she now dwelled in high and low. She'd settle down someday, but for now? She wanted every nook and cranny of this place to be known to her. She carried a wandering heart in her chest behind the stone that sat in it. As she walked, she looked down at the odd, glowing crystal. She had simply accepted that every sentient, intelligent creature here had them. Wether they were on their foreheads or chests, they were there and prominent. She would almost never stop wondering about them, though.
She continued to pad along, feeling the heat start to get to her. Thermal Balance tried to help, unbeknownst to her, but since it was unpracticed, it didn't do much of anything. The canine cursed the color of her coat for drawing in more heat, but continued to walk anyway. Sitting down might cause her to fall asleep and nap. Sure, a nap sounded mighty fine, but for all she knew she could wake up more hot that she already was. No, it was good a idea to keep walking along this forest of oddly colored trees than it was to lie down in the heat.
After a while of walking along, she heard a voice. One that sounded none to pleased, she noted with a smirk. She made her pawsteps more silent and stealthy as she continued along in the direction of the voice. She still made sure to keep her presence unknown as she padded up quietly, watching the wolf from the left side quite a few feet away, keep watch behind a tree. The offending thing he seemed to be yelling at was a bug. A very pretty bug, she'd admit. Though, she didn't have much use for pretty thing, if she was honest. Sure, she had the ring that she wore on her front paw, but that was more for it's color. The wolf adored almost anything green, and it was the color she simply couldn't resist. She had been out with her family one day when she had found it among a field, and had sparred a bit with her brothers for it. She was pretty sure they let her win, but she wasn't quite sure. Either way, she shook the memory out of her head as she watched the wolf with a smirk, waiting for him to snag the offending bug.

Hugo Martin Finally he'd snapped the damn thing up in his jaws, crunching its head and gagging at the taste. Carnivore didn't exactly equal eating bugs, he spat out the offending shrapnel within his mouth with a look of utter disgust. That wasn't exactly pleasant, it tasted like ash mixed with plant and water. He kept it on a rock, making a mental note of where it was so he could keep it for later use. He licked his lips, happy with his new treasure even if he wasn't exactly sure what else to do with it. He kind of wanted another one and he couldn't help but look around to see if he could spot one.
He did, a bright green one that leaned more on the yellow side.
He hadn't noticed the female wolf that had done well to keep herself hidden from him. Instead his focus was on the beetle perched on the branch in front of him. This one would be his for sure, he just needed to watch those pincers. He wasn't going to bite it to kill it this time though, hell no, that was disgusting. He was just going to step on its head, that was what he was going to do and that shiny carapace would be his. Now...how was he supposed to catch it without getting pinched?
