He wasn't exactly sure where he was going. Perhaps north, to see what beautiful herbs he could cultivate lay there. This wasn't his first time going north, nor his first time going through the canyon. He'd been on this continent enough years to see many of its wonders. In terms of how often he'd seen many of these lands--not much.
So it was good to go back and see what stuff he'd missed the first few times around. He might find something of value to him. It was a very hot spring day. Though it had rained the day before, most of all that moisture was already gone. He took to staying under trees, ducking to and fro in order to avoid being exposed by the sun's rays too long. Weather Sense told him it'd be hot like this for the rest of the day. And with that, Heloise decided to camp out under a cluster of trees for the rest of the morning and some of the afternoon.
Now limited to only sitting and waiting, the buck decided to practice his powers. Static Charge activated after a long moment of concentration, making the ends of his fur begin to fluff up slightly. Though the static was not as strong as it could be, he found it rather impressive for a first try. Electric magic came so much easier than Earth magic. Hugo

Hugo Martin He hadn't been doing much since his encounter with that blue beetle which he kept on his person as a little token. It was quite the fun little thing to have around, and the gleam of its exoskeleton was one of his favorite things. He vaguely wondered if he should give it as a gift to Varian, it certainly seemed like something he would have a use for. Well, at the very least it was a pretty token. Maybe a date then? A night under the stars with nothing but miles of untamed land? Why was he thinking of such an odd thing anyway, wasn't like they had done much other than make fun of each other. There was something about him though, maybe it was his eyes and how much they reminded him of the sky.
He nearly tripped over a rock being so deep in thought, not realizing that little flowers had been growing behind him while walking due to the power Green Step.
He stared at the ground, watching the little curling grass blades shrink back down into the ground after a moment. The effect hadn't lasted long and he was surprised that it had been from his paw steps to begin with. Had he stumbled onto something completely new? He was pretty damn sure he wasn't sprouting flowers out of his feet last time he checked. Neat at least, he wasn't going to lose his head over it though.
That was also when he noticed the large caribou from the bounty, no feast, no wait festival, whatever the hell it was called. He cocked his head to the side, a little unsure if he should strike up a conversation. He figured why the hell not, it wasn't like he was going to pick a fight with the herbivore. He walked over with a bounce in his step, a smirk on his face, and his normal debonair attitude.
"Well then reindeer games how have you been?" He smirked letting his tail wag in a playful gesture.
It wasn't hard to make people hate him, well with the nicknames he liked to throw around without a care in the world. It wasn't like he minded though, it weeded out the weaklings who couldn't throw back what he could dish out. Sure it was callous, uncouth, downright heinous at worst, but it was him, his own personality and he wasn't about to change for anyone else's entertainment.

A familiar smell entered the caribou's nostrils, and soon enough the owner of the smell made his appearance. He must not have noticed him yet, however, as the wolf was occupied by the sprouting of grass and small plants underneath him. Heloise had only seen the tail end of such an occurrence; the plants shrunk back into the ground after a moment, distracting him long enough for his Static Charge to dissipate.
The wolf approached, and the herbivore remained still, the nature of his relaxed body obviously shone. Being native-born, and having a parent who was also a predator, he did not fear intelligent predators beyond being somewhat wary of strangers. It felt natural to him to converse with meat-eaters, whether in a crowd or alone.
At the wolf's comment, Heloise chuckles. A small, good-natured chuckle, void of any scoffing. “It's hot weather. Sun's going to be shining all day unfortunately, so I'm waiting for late afternoon.” he says casually, and then smirks mischievously. “That 'exchange' of words you had with the hybrid wolf at the bounty gave me a good laugh. You're a real jokester aren't you?” he teases, tail flicking behind him.

Hugo Martin He wasn't exactly sure what kind of answer he was expecting, but the fucking weather certainly wasn't what he had in mind. Funnily enough a nagging sensation wriggled into his head, his own Weather Sense kicking in and letting him get the feeling that the caribou was right. He blinked, shaking his head a bit at feeling that power recede and he wasn't really sure how to take it. Eh, it wasn't like he cared much about the weather, he could tell when it was to hot as hell or freezing your nose off, anything in-between was fine.
The question did catch him off guard even more than the sudden comment about the weather. He blinked, startled at the turn the conversation had taken. Someone had heard him? Actually listened? Well that was new. But who was this other wolf he was talking about? There wasn't any other wolves fro- oh...OH! He was talking about Varian! He smiled at the thought, blue eyes flashing in his memory.
"Eh, jokester, pain in the ass, tends to be the what people like to call me." He chuckled, tail wagging at the pleasant conversation.
"Doesn't matter to me anyway, I am what I am and nothing more and nothing for sure as hell less." He struck a pose, eyes looking for some form of mock praise with a cocky grin etched across his face.
"Anyway reindeer games, what's your name? Didn't exactly catch it last time I saw you over at that shindig by the massive tree." With that he'd have a seat, tail curling around his legs and draping over his paws.
He was curious about this caribou guy he'd managed to meet. He was odd, kinda stuffy in that formal sort of way. Not exactly someone he'd be "besties" with but he certainly wasn't a chore to talk to. Granted he wasn't the "lets braid each others hair and talk about boys" kind of guy, he was a sarcastic brat with a penchant for getting into trouble in the best of times and a criminal wanted in five different counties at worst.
Man that was a fun summer.
Anyway, it wasn't like he disliked the caribou, he just seemed kinda...well he'd say boring but that was kind of rude. Safe, yeah, that's a nice way to say he seemed duller than a bag of rocks. He was safe, didn't seem like the type to keep up with the shenanigans that Hugo liked to get into more often than not.

The smile that formed at the mention of the other wolf did not go unnoticed. Were they friends? Had that exchange at the tree just been another one of their playful gestures towards each other? The wolf in front of him didn't provide any insight. “I wasn't meaning it in any sort of disrespectful way. It was a compliment. You're funny.” a true statement. Though the wolf's excitable nature far outmatched his own energy, they at least had a respect for comedy in common.
More things he was getting out of this conversation is that he seemed pretty confident in himself, even going so far as to strike a pose, to which gave Heloise a laugh. This wolf was amusing, someone he could see himself meeting up with again if he ever wanted a good laugh. The buck probably could not keep up with his energy, though. “My name's Heloise. Yours?” whether or not he'd get the name, Heloise would continue with, “I'm heading North to check out if there are any interesting herbs there, but also for a change of scenery. Might find something fun up there, dunno. I'd appreciate some company; you seem like a fun gem to hang around with.” an offer for two strangers to get to know each other. A chance to find some new sites to explore together. If the wolf said yes, it'd be great. Only problem afterwards would be the glaring sun...
