WHO AM I?
[Overview]
passionate. assertive. loyal. silver-tongued. eloquent. ambitious. goal-driven. cunning. ruthless. affable.
Having been brought up with the intention of being an heir to her father's throne, Antigone knows common courtesy and manners all too well. She takes great pride in her However, much like Azuren, her father, underneath her well-mannered exterior is ambition and a fighting spirit. She has a strong desire to remain important to others and to live up to her father's legacy. She is not ambitious in that she is completely and entirely power-hungry. Instead, she desires to become someone of importance; someone whose name will be remembered throughout the years. She does have leadership skills as well as the training necessary to become a capable leader, but leading has never been the highest item on her list of priorities. As long as she leaves her mark on the world, she is satisfied.
Loyal to those who she deems worthy of her loyalty, she enjoys forging comraderies with others. Her trust is something that she definitely never wants broken, which causes her to often keep her guard up about personal matters. It is not that she is unwilling to open up to other creatures, but rather that she is extremely cautious about who she does this with. If she overshares to the wrong creature, she believes, she will be showing too much weakness, thereby giving them something to use against her.
Cunning and somewhat confident, Antigone keeps her eyes on the metaphorical prize, whether it be power, winning a spar, or anything else. It's a philosophy that she has lived by since she was a cub, and she enjoys the thrill of the chase that comes with it. Predictability with a side of unpredictability is her favourite dish, after all. Too much unpredictability in her life, though, is something that she often dislikes; there is a certain point where she wants nothing more than the simplicity of a controllable life. She wants to feel secure and in control, not threatened and weak. She is not against killing or maiming, and is completely fine with doing either if she feels the circumstances should come to it.
Neither good nor evil, she revels in the boundary between the two extremes. She is friendly and approachable towards those who have no wronged her, but aggressive and ruthless towards those who she views as the enemy. Above all, any friendships she may make with others are typically genuine, unless she is trying to manipulate them or gain information. She remains polite and sympathetic to such creatures. Even though she is ambitious and often remains closed off about her personal feelings, she does enjoy socializing with others. After all, life, to her, has always been about chasing one's passions and feeling alive. It only makes sense that she should form meaningful relationships with others so that she may live a fulfilling life filled with camaraderie and passion, no?
[Phobias]
Atychiphobia -- the fear of failure
[Fatal Flaws]
Species Bias -- While she is not malicious or bigoted about it, she is wary of non-felid creatures due to being raised in a felid-only pride and having watched as a group comprised of other creatures dismantled said pride.
HISTORY
[Pre-Ebon]
Antigone was born into a group of felids, known simply as "The Pride", alongside her sisters, Eulalia and Primeveire, and her brother, Andromaque. A few months before her birth, her father, Azuren, had taken over the Pride after he had heard about how incompetent the king was. He took this as a chance to rise to power. After he attacked the king and fended him away, he assumed the rank of king.
Antigone and her littermates grew up as heirs to Azuren's throne. She was raised not knowing about her father's past or of his crimes, instead believing what Azuren had told every member of the Pride - that he was royalty from a faraway land who seeked nothing more than to rule a peaceful kingdom. Meanwhile, her mother, Bellicent taught her children how to speak French and Greek, two other languages spoken in the Pride (although not as frequently spoken as English). Both of her parents instilled in her a simple phrase that she would later adopt as an unspoken motto - "Keep your eyes on the prize." The only other official group of creatures that lived near the Pride was a diverse, rag-tag pack of creatures known as the Outcasting. Made up of former and/or exiled pride members who wanted a simpler life as well as other creatures, they were known to cause trouble. One member tried to take Antigone when she was about 6 months old, but Azuren struck a deal with the pack of misfits that if they stopped threathening the Pride, no war would happen between them and an alliance could come out of it. Gatherings were now held between the two groups every month in order for them to gain a better understanding of each other and come to an agreement. While she, Primeveire, and Andromaque continued their training, Eulalia fell ill, causing Antigone and her other siblings to distance themselves from her. When Eulalia recovered and ended up taking an interest in healing, it futhered the rift between her and her littermates even more. Little did Antigone know that she would later become close with her healer sibling.
Tensions between the Pride and the Outcasting grew once more after some members of the Pride were mysteriously killed. Things took a turn for worse when Zeno Bordelais, the king of the Pride before Azuren took over, joined the Oucasting and declared war on the pride. Pride members that ventured too far away from their territory often came back injured, or worse, did not come back at all. In the final days before a raid between the two groups broke out, Azuren confessed to both his children and wife about the crimes he had committed in the past. He admitted that he had played a part in maiming a few members that he considered an annoyance, that he had hostaged members into the realm and had threatened them, and confessed of his occasional infidelities. Nobody in the family was exactly sure what to make of Azuren's confessions - Antigone's mother had already known of Azuren's unfaithfulness, but did not know what to make of his apparent ruthlessness. Bellicent was not angry, but rather unsure of herself and her sanity by having been in love with "a potential sociopath" (and still being very much in love with him). Antigone did her best to comfort her mother, but it was not an easy thing to do when she also now had more complicated feelings about Azuren. The raid happened when Antigone and her littermates were about one-and-a-quarter years old. Word had spread about the official attack before it happened; Andromaque and Primeveire found this out from an Outcasting member working as a double-agent for the Pride. Rather than standing his ground and fighting his battles, Azuren told his next of kin to run while they still could. They listened to him, bolting the night before the attack. Azuren tagged along, too, but not for long - Outcasts had found the family, and in the midst of a chase, the family was separated. Antigone was only left with Eulalia. She gradually grew to appreciate her healer sister over the months they spent together as rogues. Eulalia's insight and carefulness was not to be considered unnecessary, she soon learned, as her sister was from then on always there to rush to her aid when she needed healing. In turn, she was practically her sister's bodyguard, fighting for her whenever needed be. However, one day when Eulalia was hunting for herbs, she didn't return home. At first Antigone assumed that she was lost, but she waited for over three weeks for her sister to come back and searched for her relentlessly but no trace of her could be found. Fearing that the Outcasting may still be looking for her family, Antigone felt she had no choice but to leave the unclaimed lands she and her sister had settled in. Before she left, she silently wished her sister the best, hoping that she had not been captured yet. She took refuge in a group she came across in her travels, but left said group a few seasons later upon injuring her leg in a battle and afterwards finding herself unable to fit in with them. One day, during her subsequent travels, she was attacked by a group of animals -- who she could only assume were members of the Outcasting or assassins hired by them -- and was fatally wounded. She will now later wake up in Ebon, not knowing where she is or why she's there.
